HARKER POTTERY 12 LOVELACE FRUIT BASKET GADROON 22K BREAD PLATES, BAKERITE BOWL

Description

This listing is for a set of 12 Harker Pottery bread plates in their lovelace fruit basket pattern with Royal Gadroom rims, PLUS one Harker fruit bowl in this same pattern in their Bakerite line. The backstamp on the bread plates places the date of manufacture sometime around1950. The bread plates are 6 1/4" in diameter, and the fruit bowl measures 6" in diameter.
Gadroon was perhaps Harker's most versatile and identifiable shape. The word gadroon refers to the rope-like pattern that decorates the edge of these pieces. Harker used several names for Gadroon dinnerware, but it can be divided into two groups: Chesterton (undecorated except for its rich colors and white edge) and Royal Gadroon (very colorfully decorated images).
As for the Bakerite bowl, the backstamp on this ovenproof piece places the date of manufacture between 1935 and 1950.
No chips, cracks, or unusual wear on any of these pieces. It's rare to find a matching set of a dozen pieces of Harker dinnerware that have remained together through the years. These are a fabulous piece of Harker Pottery history.
